Uzbekistan has established a fund to promote the recovery of patients suffering from oncohematological and intractable diseases. The structure will operate under the Ministry of Health of the Republic without the status of a legal entity, Norma reports.

The fund will be financed by 7% of the amount of excise duties on tobacco products received by the State Budget, income from placing temporarily free funds of the Fund on deposits in commercial banks, charitable donations from individuals and legal entities, as well as other sources not prohibited by law.

The Fund will purchase equipment, medicines, medical devices, laboratory reagents and other supplies for medical institutions to help patients suffering from hematological diseases.

In addition, the Fund will invite highly qualified foreign specialists to perform high-tech complex operations, and will also cover the costs of establishing high-tech diagnoses and providing patients with medical services by state and non-state medical institutions in Uzbekistan.
